History of the Company: YG Entertainment was founded on February 24th, 1996 by Yang Hyun-Suk; YG stands for “Yang Goon”, which is a reference to its founder. The current CEO is Yang Min-Suk, the brother to Yang Yung-Suk. The company was founded as a record label and now also serves as a talent agency, a clothing line, a cosmetics brand, event management, and concert production company, and other subsidiary ventures. The subsidiary companies consist of: YGEX, YGKPlus, YGPlus, HIGHGRND, The Black Label, NONA9ON, moonshot, YG Gold Academy, and 3geori Butchers. YG Entertainment is one of the major three entertainment companies in South Korea. The company is best known for Psy, BIGBANG, and 2NE1.
